A truck tyre blowout is not just a nuisance — it is a cost factor. Every hour of downtime costs you money: missed delivery windows, driving-time problems, contractual penalties. A mobile truck tyre service brings the tyre workshop directly to your vehicle — to the hard shoulder, the rest area, the yard, or the construction site.
LKWHelp24 is available nationwide around the clock, 365 days a year. Arrival usually takes 30–60 minutes. The call-out starts at a fixed price from €290, tyres from R17.5 from €315.
Important: we work exclusively with trucks and commercial vehicles from 7.5 tonnes. No cars, no vans under 7.5t, no motorhomes. For car breakdowns, please contact ADAC or a regular roadside assistance service.
Truck tyre blowout: what matters in the first minutes
Before you call anyone, your safety comes first. A stranded truck on a German motorway is a hazard, and most serious accidents linked to breakdowns don’t happen at the moment of the tyre damage itself, but afterwards.
Secure the vehicle
Move the vehicle as far right as possible, ideally fully onto the hard shoulder. Switch on the hazard lights. Put on a hi-vis vest before leaving the cab. Place the warning triangle at a sufficient distance — on motorways much further back than in city traffic. Always leave the vehicle on the right-hand side and stay behind the crash barrier, never between the vehicle and the carriageway.
If a tyre bursts while driving: don’t brake abruptly, hold the steering wheel firmly, let the vehicle roll to a stop and steer right in a controlled way. A blown drive-axle or steering-axle tyre changes the vehicle’s handling instantly.
Send your location via WhatsApp
The fastest way to reach us: send your location via WhatsApp to +49 160 5753826. WhatsApp location sharing gives exact coordinates — motorway kilometre markers are often imprecise for dispatch, especially when the driver isn’t sure of the direction of travel.
Alternatively, call us on +49 160 5753826. With a poor connection on the motorway, the WhatsApp chat often works better than a phone call.
Also send a photo of the damage and the tyre size from the sidewall. This lets our dispatch know immediately which tyre and which tools are needed, and whether a single tyre is enough or a twin/dual wheel is affected.
Who our service is for — and who it isn’t
LKWHelp24 works exclusively with heavy commercial vehicles: tractor units, prime movers, semi-trailers, trailers, buses, construction machinery and special vehicles from 7.5 tonnes.
This clear boundary is deliberate. A service vehicle for truck tyres carries heavy-duty hydraulic jacks, high-torque impact wrenches and tyres in dimensions that are simply irrelevant for cars. Anyone trying to serve both at once ends up poorly equipped for either.
Not covered by our service: cars, vans and light commercial vehicles under 7.5t, motorhomes, car trailers, motorcycles. For these vehicles, ADAC, ACE or a regular breakdown service is the right contact.
Our mobile truck tyre services
Our tyre service is our core business: truck tyre changes are carried out directly on site, without a workshop visit. Our mobile service works like a workshop on wheels.

On-site tyre change
The classic case of pressure loss or a blowout: tyre damaged, vehicle stationary, no spare available or it can’t be fitted. This helps prevent unplanned disruption to your transport wherever possible. A truck tyre change is usually completed within 60–120 minutes, once arrival and securing of the site are done. Our service vehicle arrives with a matching tyre and carries out the change directly on site using special mobile equipment. The breakdown site is secured according to the applicable rules before work begins. Our service vehicles are equipped with compressors and tyre inflation systems for this purpose.
Under good conditions, the actual wheel change takes considerably less time than getting there. Most of the downtime comes from waiting, not from the fitting itself — which is why response time is the decisive figure for a breakdown service. We can fit tyres mobile from R17.5 to R22.5, helping to minimise downtime.
Tyre fitting and tyre repair
Not every tyre defect requires a new tyre. For smaller punctures in the tread area, a proper repair is often possible and considerably cheaper. Our technicians inspect the damage on site and also check air pressure and tyre condition directly on the vehicle. Depending on the situation, the tyre change can also take place during loading or unloading, to keep downtime and disruption as low as possible. Typical emergency services here include emergency repairs, tyre changes and pressure checks, depending on what makes technical sense on site and meets our standard for a sound assessment.
Sidewall damage is generally not repairable. A tyre that has been driven for a longer time with significant pressure loss has also suffered structural damage and needs to be changed, even if it looks fine from the outside. Work is carried out exclusively by qualified specialists. Where possible, this can be integrated directly into the ongoing job without additional maintenance appointments.
Fitting includes checking tyre inflation pressure, checking tread depth on the remaining wheels, and a brief inspection of the rest of the tyre set as a precaution, so uneven wear and vibration are spotted early, plus proper disposal of the old tyre as part of the mobile service.
Tyre supply and advice
Sometimes your exact size isn’t on the service vehicle. In that case, our dispatch sources the right tyre and gives you a realistic timeframe — instead of stringing you along with a vague estimate.
We also advise you on the right tyres by size, axle position and usage profile. Our technicians assess damage on site with the aim of making only safe, technically sound repair decisions. Steering axle, drive axle and trailer axle all have different requirements; a tyre that works well on the drive axle isn’t automatically the right choice for the steering axle. The load index of truck tyres is the most important figure here.
When checking the rest of the tyre set, we also flag it if uneven wear or vibration point to further action being needed. When sourcing tyres, we take into account available brands such as Goodyear or Michelin on request.
Emergency tyre service for blowouts
A tyre blowout on the motorway is the most acute case. Here, securing the site matters at least as much as the repair itself. Our mobile service also provides fast support for minor breakdowns or tyre changes. For jobs on or right next to the carriageway, we coordinate with police or the motorway maintenance authority where needed — working in a live traffic lane without official protection is not permitted. Truck towing service for vehicles from 7.5 tonnes is also available 24/7, but remains a different job to mobile tyre service.
You’ll find detailed advice on what to do during a breakdown in our guide what to consider when towing.
How a call-out works
Step 1: Contact and location
You send your location, a photo of the damage and the tyre size via WhatsApp. You’ll receive confirmation with the expected arrival time. If needed, dispatch clarifies by follow-up whether dual wheels are affected and whether the vehicle is loaded. For planning the job and the schedule, location, load and type of damage are the key factors.
Step 2: Dispatch and arrival
We select the nearest available service technician with the right equipment and tyre size; our dispatchers coordinate the job directly so no time is lost. You get ongoing updates on arrival time so your own planning can continue — for freight forwarders, a reliable time estimate is often more important than raw speed.
Step 3: Work on site
The technician secures the work area, removes the damaged wheel, fits the replacement and sets the correct tyre pressure. A brief visual check of the remaining wheels follows — this often reveals a second, not-yet-acute issue.
Step 4: Payment and receipt
Payment is made directly on site, in cash or by card. You receive a receipt for your fleet or forwarder with full documentation of location, service performed and tyre data. This way every service is fully traceable. The price is fixed before work begins.
Prices for mobile truck tyre service
Price transparency isn’t a given in this business. We tell you the price before the job, not after.
What the fixed price includes
The call-out starts at €290 and covers arrival, securing the site and the fitting work. Tyres from R17.5 start at €315, fitting included.
What makes mobile service cost-effective: it often replaces a tow. We’ve broken down what towing a truck actually costs in a dedicated article — truck towing costs. For vehicles of this size, the savings quickly reach four figures.
Night, weekend and public holiday surcharges
At night, on weekends and on public holidays, the call-out fee starts at €549. We state this tiering openly, because breakdowns don’t stick to office hours, and a technician at 3am has to be paid differently than at 3pm.
All costs are communicated before the service begins. There are no hidden surcharges afterwards for mileage or waiting time.
Legal basics for changing truck tyres
There are a few rules around tyre work on commercial vehicles that many drivers only know roughly. Here are the key ones.
Is a tyre change allowed on the motorway?
On the hard shoulder, changing a wheel in a breakdown is generally permitted if the site is properly secured. The hard shoulder exists exactly for such emergencies. Working in a live traffic lane without official protection from the police or motorway maintenance authority is not permitted.
In practice this means: if the vehicle is standing safely to the right, work can proceed. If it’s protruding into traffic, it must first be secured — and that’s not a formality, it’s the difference between a breakdown and an accident.
Is a tyre change allowed on the road?
In a breakdown, yes, under the same conditions: securing the site, hazard lights, warning triangle, hi-vis vest. On roads within built-up areas, shorter distances apply for the warning triangle than on the motorway.
Planned work is a different matter. A regular seasonal tyre change on public road land is not the same as an emergency repair and can be objected to depending on the location and circumstances.
Minimum tread depth: how long can truck tyres be driven?
The legal minimum tread depth is 1.6 mm (§ 36 of the German vehicle licensing regulation, StVZO). For heavy commercial vehicles, however, this is an absolute lower limit, not a target. Driving in the wet just above this limit significantly increases braking distance.
In professional tyre management, inflation pressure and temperature can be tracked in real time to catch critical wear earlier. Regular fleet checks can reduce tyre-related breakdowns by up to 80 percent.
Besides tread, age matters too. A tyre with plenty of tread but visible cracks in the sidewall is not a safe tyre. The DOT number on the sidewall shows the week and year of manufacture.
Are truck tyres allowed to be regrooved?
Regrooving is only permitted on tyres explicitly approved for it by the manufacturer — identifiable by the REGROOVABLE marking on the sidewall. The work requires specialist knowledge and suitable tools, since cutting too deep damages the belt.
Regrooving is economically worthwhile for commercial vehicle tyres and common in fleets, but it belongs in skilled hands.
What does disposing of a truck tyre cost?
Proper disposal of the old tyre is included as part of our call-outs. You don’t need to worry about the removed tyre.
Tyre sizes and equipment
Common sizes from R17.5
We work with tyres from R17.5 up to R22.5. The most common sizes in long-haul transport are 315/70 R22.5 and 385/65 R22.5 — both sizes that service vehicles usually carry as stock. Smaller distribution vehicles often run on 235/75 R17.5 or 245/70 R17.5.
Rare sizes and special tyres for construction machinery are possible; on request, we also source tyres for industrial vehicles, though procurement time may be longer in that case. Please ask directly via WhatsApp, and dispatch will check availability in advance.
Equipment on our service vehicles
Standard equipment includes heavy-duty hydraulic jacks for commercial vehicles, special equipment for working on a tractor unit, high-torque impact wrenches, torque wrenches for the prescribed tightening values, a compressor and tyre inflation system, as well as protective equipment for jobs in the traffic space; tyre changes are carried out with special mobile machinery. The vehicles also carry their own power supply, so the job site is independently powered.
Our specialists use the appropriate tools depending on the vehicle and wheel design. The torque wrench is no minor detail: loosely tightened wheel nuts are one of the most common causes of wheel loss on commercial vehicles, while over-tightened ones damage bolts and rims.
