GEARBOX ECU FAILURE ON THE A66 NEAR WIESBADEN – TRUCK EMERGENCY AT NIGHT
In April 2026, around 03:10 AM, a Romanian truck driver called our 24/7 hotline after a serious breakdown on the A99 near Wiesbaden, close to the Wiesbaden-West interchange.
The gearbox electronic control unit lost communication with the CAN bus — the automated transmission froze in gear, the dashboard showed a critical gearbox fault, and the truck decelerated to walking pace. The container truck heading from Frankfurt toward Cologne had to stop on the hard shoulder immediately. Without ECU reset or replacement, no gear change was possible.
