EGR VALVE FAILURE ON THE A1 NEAR TRIER – TRUCK EMERGENCY AT NIGHT
In April 2026, around 03:10 AM, a Romanian truck driver called our 24/7 hotline after a serious breakdown on the A99 near Trier, close to the Trier-West interchange.
The EGR valve stuck open and flooded the intake with exhaust gas — the engine went into emergency mode, power dropped to 20%, and the truck began rolling to a stop on the hard shoulder. The refrigerated truck heading from Luxembourg toward Cologne had no choice but to stop. Continuing in this condition risked severe engine damage.
We handled communication in French. The driver received a fixed-price quote for towing and workshop transport. After payment confirmation, a heavy-duty recovery vehicle was dispatched right away.
