Blown Tire on the A8 near Reutlingen-Haar
A Scania R 500 pulling a Schmitz flatbed loaded with machinery parts came off the A8 at Reutlingen in Baden-Württemberg after the driver noticed the trailer riding lower on the right side at motorway speed. He stopped at the first available lay-by on the B28 approach road. One tyre on the central trailer axle had gone completely flat: a nail had entered vertically through the centre tread and the air had escaped gradually over roughly forty kilometres of running.
