A MAN TGX 26.460 was queueing for the Sassnitz-Mukran ferry terminal on the B96 when the left front steer tyre let go with a sharp bang. The vehicle was barely moving at the time, crawling forward in the lorry queue, but the sudden pressure loss made the front end drop noticeably. The driver shut down the engine and climbed out to inspect. The tyre had a complete sidewall failure, most likely the result of a slow structural crack that had been developing over several thousand kilometres of Baltic corridor routes between Stralsund and Greifswald.
