Blown Tire on the A19 near Rostock-Haar
A Mercedes-Benz Actros 2553 rolling north on the A19 toward the Rostock port area lost a drive tyre retread at speed roughly eight kilometres south of the city. The retread peeled away in large sections, throwing rubber across two lanes before the driver could brake and move right onto the hard shoulder. Traffic was light at that hour, which helped. The driver pulled onto the verge near the Güstrow distance marker and contacted LKWHelp24. The remaining casing on the rim was cracked and partly delaminated, ruling out any on-site repair. The inner dual on the same axle was intact, but pressure needed to be confirmed once the outer was dealt with. The mobile unit reached the A19 location in thirty-one minutes. The outer dual was stripped from the rim, the rim inspected carefully for impact deformation or cracking along the bead seat, and a new commercial 315/80 R22.5 fitted and torqued in two cross-sequences. The inner dual pressure was topped to 9 bar and both wheel sensors checked. Warning triangles had been placed at the recommended spacing and were recovered before the van left. The Actros pulled into the Rostock port terminal about one hour and ten minutes after the retread separated, early enough for the driver to make the loading slot for a freight departure toward Wismar and Demmin distribution. A tow recovery would have cost at least four hours and missed the ferry window entirely.
