Blown Tire on the A20 near Wismar-Haar
A DAF XF 480 towing a Krone box trailer was westbound on the A20 near the Wismar junction when the driver noticed the trailer was sitting low on the nearside rear axle. He exited at the Wismar interchange and stopped in the service area to investigate. A slow puncture had let the tyre down to roughly 3 bar: still rolling, but not safe to continue. LKWHelp24 was reached at 08:45. The technician arrived from the Schwerin direction within 44 minutes. On dismounting the wheel, a 20 mm nail was found in the tyre tread close to the shoulder, at an angle that made a plug repair borderline. The technician removed the nail, probed the channel and found the steel belt was undamaged, allowing a vulcanised internal patch to be applied correctly. The tyre was remounted, inflated to the trailer specification pressure and the wheel torqued to DAF/Krone values. A pressure re-check after 15 minutes confirmed the patch was holding. The remaining trailer axle tyres were checked visually and with a gauge: all within tolerance. The rig was released at 10:20, continuing toward Luebeck and onto the Scandinavian ferry connections.
