A Volvo FH 460 loaded with pharmaceuticals was southbound on the A5 near Bruchsal when the EBS warning lit up alongside a red brake circuit indicator. The driver, Corneliu, felt no change in braking behaviour but the warning was serious enough to pull onto the hard shoulder immediately. Connecting the Volvo VCADS diagnostic system, the fault was a pressure sensor in the front service circuit, showing an implausible reading. The sensor itself was the culprit: it had developed an internal short, causing the TEBS module to flag a circuit fault even though the brakes were still operating through the secondary circuit. The technician had the Volvo-compatible pressure sensor on the van. Sensor replaced, system rebooted, a pressure and function test completed on the hard shoulder. The EBS warning cleared and all brake circuits read correctly. Corneliu continued south toward Karlsruhe and Ettlingen, the load intact and the cold chain uninterrupted.
