A Scania R 450 on a timber run from the east flagged a TPMS alert on its rear drive axle just as the driver merged onto the A36 near Aschersleben in Saxony-Anhalt. The pressure reading was dropping steadily, not catastrophically, giving the driver enough time to slow down and pull safely onto the hard shoulder before a full blowout could develop. Our van was on site within 50 minutes. Initial inspection showed the inner tyre of the tandem drive pair had a slow leak from a damaged valve stem, possibly from road debris picked up near the Bernburg exit. The valve core was corroded and could not hold pressure reliably. We removed the wheel, replaced the valve assembly entirely, refitted the tyre, and torqued the wheel nuts to the Scania specification. Before clearing the job we checked pressure on all remaining tyres and confirmed the outer of the tandem pair was within the acceptable range. The driver then asked us to inspect the steer axle after the long eastern run, which we did without extra delay. One steer tyre showed minor scuffing on the sidewall but was within safe limits for the remainder of the journey toward Halle. Total standstill was under 45 minutes. The Scania continued its run through Köthen toward Magdeburg on schedule, avoiding what could easily have become a full blowout on the busy A36 corridor.
